Business insurance holders are still prioritising green IT projects despite the additional financial pressures created by the recession, according to research.

A study published by Gartner shows 90 per cent of organisations had green IT projects at the time of the survey, with more than a fifth of these specifying a capital expenditure budget.

The firm's research vice president Rakesh Kumar says this covers areas such as carbon reporting and offsetting, green procurement and videoconferencing.

He says these will continue to be key factors for business insurance holders planning their IT strategy and architecture in the next decade.

Mr Kumar states: "When considering positioning a solution as green, providers need to consider whether it will save organisations money in less than 12 to 24 months."

Director of Herman Miller's specifier and design group Mark Catchlove recently claimed that business insurance holders' workplaces could change by 2030 to become greener.

He claims the technological developments which will be achieved during this period will be taken into account in the way offices are designed.ADNFCR-873-ID-19125015-ADNFCR
