Business insurance holders will continue to use travel as a tool but will do so with a greater awareness of the environmental costs, an expert asserts.

Margaret Hansen, global procurement, director corporate travel at AT Kearney, claims the global economy is such that this practice cannot be avoided entirely.

She emphasises the long-term nature of the policies and procedures in place, suggesting airlines are unable to immediately replace their current operations with more eco-friendly examples overnight.

It is important that business insurance holders support the overarching strategies and get behind these initiatives, Ms Hansen asserts.

She states: "It is about being aware of it, owning it and doing the best that we can [and] encouraging the suppliers we do business with to make better use of energy, efficiency and resources."

A recent report by ACTE and KDS reveals that 61 per cent of business insurance holders not have a corporate social responsibility charter.ADNFCR-873-ID-19045869-ADNFCR
