Business insurance customers should make sure they manage their stress levels in a way that suits them, according to an expert.

Sally Toumi, managing director of Stark Brooks, says all management personnel experience the same pressures, regardless of the size of business, saying business insurance customers need to be "self-aware".

Ms Toumi states: "Sometimes talking to the right person helps to solve the issue and the problem is often not as big as it was in your own mind."

She recommends going to the gym or taking holidays as good ways for business insurance customers to relieve stress.

According to statistics from the Health and Safety Executive, 20 per cent of people find their work either very or extremely stressful.

Work-related stress is estimated the cost society between £3.7 billion and £3.8 billion based on 1995/6 prices, the organisation says.

Over half a million people say they have become so stressed at work that it has made them ill.
