A spate of arson attacks in an area of north-west England could be seen to highlight the importance of having an adequate business insurance policy in place.

The latest attack took place on Monday (August 23rd) at Wigan LGV and PCV Training Centre, which offers commercial transport driver training, Wigan Today reports.

Two of the three vehicles owned by the firm for the purpose of giving lessons were completely destroyed by the arsonists, while the third saw fire and heat damage.

It is thought that the attacks have resulted in £36,000 worth of damage. It was the fifth fire in 12 days on the estate.

"The owner, Philip Barton, is absolutely heartbroken because the business was his father's for about 30 years and he has run it for 15," said Wigan LGV and PCV Training Centre instructor Thomas Hart.

He added that the company had been fully booked up until October but the business would have to be cancelled until it can find more vehicles to use.

Taking out a business insurance policy can be one way that a small firm can protect itself against the potential cost of a fire or other event.

Business insurance can help companies recover the expenses incurred by damage to or loss of physical assets, although this does depend on the insurer's assessment and final decision on the claim. ADNFCR-873-ID-800040813-ADNFCR
