An increasing number of businesses could be purchasing van insurance as new research shows a rise in the number of such vehicles registered.
Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reveals a total of 8,666 new vans were registered over the course of August.
With this representing a rise of 15.1 per cent compared to the same month in 2009, those looking to expand their portfolio of commercial vehicles may find they need van insurance.
Meanwhile, truck registrations rose 5.7 per cent during the month, although they are down 22.9 per cent for the rolling year.
"August saw sustained improvement in new van registrations and some positive signs from the truck sector," Paul Everitt, chief executive of the SMMT, states.
However, as he points out that the British economy continues to be in the early stages of recovery from the financial crisis, "it will be important" that the government takes steps to sustain growth in its forthcoming spending review.
By having van insurance in place, businesses can find they are protected should their vehicle be damaged in an accident or items from it are stolen.
