Things may be looking up for small business insurance holders in the UK, it has been suggested.

According to research released by Hilton-Baird, 58 per cent of such organisations have recently won new contracts.

In addition, 30 per cent revealed they were entering into new markets, while 28 per cent were rolling out different products.

Responding to the findings, managing director of Hilton-Baird Evette Orams said: "The findings our new research study [show] make extremely encouraging reading."

She added that small to medium-sized enterprises are "staggeringly resilient" and they are taking advantage of the opportunities emerging as the country comes out of the economic downturn "with gusto".

However, the poll also found that access to funding remains a concern for businesses, with 35 per cent still using credit cards as a form of financing.

Recently, Hilton-Baird released research which suggested that 44 per cent of small business are "increasingly bullish" about their prospects.
