The need for retailers to have shop insurance in place has been highlighted following a fire at an antiques shop in Oxfordshire.

On Sunday afternoon (September 5th) four crews were sent to the Antiques Centre in Chipping Norton after a fire broke out on the first floor.

Nobody is thought to have been hurt in the incident and the cause of the fire currently remains unknown.

Christopher Butterworth, deputy mayor of Chipping Norton, told the Banbury Cake that upon taking a look at the building yesterday morning, it appeared that about one-third of it had been destroyed.

Firms may find that having shop insurance in place can help meet the cost of repair work and replacing items lost in a fire.

The case of retailers to take out shop insurance was also seen after the headquarters of Daventry firm Stingray RV were reported to have suffered substantial damage following a fire in the early hours of Monday.ADNFCR-873-ID-800055575-ADNFCR
