Pub insurance is paramount for licensees, but for several pubs in the town of Kendal it could be needed more than ever, the Westmorland Gazette reports.
Repeated power cuts have been sources of woe for the three pubs in the area, with one - The Fleece - suffering ten cuts in the space of just a month, which could be covered by business insurance.
The pub's landlady, Leanne Alderson, said: "During the latest power cut, we had to turn 50 people away in less than an hour, which is a considerable amount of customers and would mean a loss of about £500."
Ms Alderson did not state whether her pub insurance would cover the losses.
The fault is currently intermittent, meaning the electricity company are unable to pinpoint and fix it.
In related business insurance news, research has shown that 81 north-western pub owners had put their businesses up for auction last year.
