The World Cup may have been a contributing factor to the increase in sales that restaurant insurance policyholders saw during June.
According to the latest Coffer Peach Business Tracker, the football tournament - coupled with the half-term school holiday and warmer weather - affected transactions at restaurants and pubs, which rose by 1.4 per cent over the course of the month
Commenting on the findings, Peter Martin of research and intelligence group Peach Factory said restaurant insurance policyholders saw a definite upturn in sales during the school holidays, possibly due to more parents taking their children out for a meal during their time off.
However, the football tournament and the good weather were more of a "mixed blessing" for restaurant insurance customers, Mr Martin said, noting that sales dipped in some establishments, while pubs typically saw business increase.
Earlier this month, Peach said at its Network's Finance Forum in London that there will be opportunities for growth among restaurant owners who are able to distinguish themselves from their rivals.
