The owner of a crane hire company in Wales has revealed how two separate fires in the space of an evening almost saw him lose his organisation, in an incident which could remind business owners of the need to have commercial insurance in place.

Speaking to the Leader, Trevor Jones of TJ Crane Hire in Rhostyllen said that an electrical fault in a crane's cab caused a fire on Wednesday evening, which was subsequently put out by the local fire service.

Just two hours later Mr Jones was called back to the yard after the crane's second cab caught on fire, destroying the £85,000 vehicle.

However, the blaze was stopped before it reached any of the other cranes located at the premises.

"If that had happened, the whole yard might have gone up and I might have lost my whole business," he stated.

The cause of the second fire is currently being investigated.

By having commercial insurance in place businesses can get financial compensation to meet the cost of replacing items damaged by natural disasters such as fires and floods.

Steve Huxham, chair of the Recruitment Society, recently claimed firms should invest in a greater level of commercial insurance in order to protect themselves from criminal activity carried out by their employees.ADNFCR-873-ID-800051853-ADNFCR
