A technology glitch at the Nationwide building society has demonstrated the importance of securing business insurance for computer breakdown.
According to the BBC, the problem occurred during the morning of February 7th and meant internet users were unable to access the homepage.
Those using online banking were still able to make transactions, but they had to go directly to the online banking page to do so, as those clicking through to the homepage were met with a message telling them that the server was too busy.
It is not the first time that Nationwide has experienced problems with its computer systems. In 2009, a glitch meant that customers were unable to use the building society's online banking facilities for almost an entire day.
Computer breakdown can have a damaging effect on a company's ability to operate normally, so securing business insurance cover for computer breakdown could help firms minimise the impact.
