Landlords' insurance holders are "absolutely essential" to a stable and healthy economy, an expert has claimed.

Mark Garner, founder of LettingZone.com, stated that there is not enough government support for landlords' insurance holders.

He was commenting on the fact that it can take landlords' insurance holders up to six months to evict a tenant who is not paying their rent.

And Mr Garner added: "What is needed is local housing courts to be set up to speed up the eviction process and reduce the burden on the county courts."

The letting specialist thinks that because of the state of the economy the UK will be reliant on the sector - as there is not enough funding currently around to finance new housing projects.

His comments follow the recent publication of a consultation document by the Treasury, which stated that the sector had been the most responsive and affordable part of the housing market in the last 12 months.
