FSB: Small business insurance customers growing confident

New figures suggest that small business insurance holders are seeing a tentative recovery from the recession.

According to a survey by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), 23 per cent of its members report a rise in trade, an increase on the 16 per cent recorded in February.

Furthermore, the organisation noted that 40 per cent of small business insurance customers cited the cost of finance as a major problem previously, but this has now fallen to 25 per cent.

The poll also found that 68 per cent of companies intend to grow in the next six months with investments in marketing, more staff and new products.

John Wright, national chairman of the FSB, added: "Small businesses are naturally flexible and innovative in recessions and these figures show that despite the very many negative forces on them, they are being cautiously optimistic and are looking to expand."

Recently, the Rowlands Growth Capital Review sought the opinions of small business insurance holders on how the government can support the sector during the eventual economic upswing.
