Entrepreneurs pessimistic about Olympics

Business owners in London remain unconvinced that the 2012 Olympics will benefit their SMEs.

The Telegraph reports that a mere one in ten SMEs believe that the 2012 London Olympics will act as a catalyst to their success, with managers fearing the lion's share of the benefits will go to big businesses, according to a YouGov survey.

Moreover, it was revealed that 15 per cent of SME respondents believed that the Games could have a detrimental impact upon their earnings.

However, Michaela Johns, director of business services at the Tenon Forum encouraged SMEs to stay positive.

"Entrepreneurs should remain open to ideas and seek out more unusual business leads for their company to take advantage of any potential opportunities that may arise in the run-up," she commented.

Earlier this year the Federation of Small Businesses stated that the 2012 Olympics were a great opportunity for SMEs to "get involved".
